If you are on this page it is probably because you have a passion for cycling like we do. One reason we have this cottage is its proximity to some great mountain bike trails and some excellent road routes. You have probably heard of the 7 Stanes complex which has centres throughout Southern Scotland and are a mecca for MTBers throughout the UK and beyond. Well, you can reach 5 of them within an hour of the cottage with Mabie and Dalbeattie less than 15 minutes' drive. The excellent Drumlanrig Castle is also nearby and although not a 'Stane' it provides some excellent riding.
We love all kinds of cycling and the roads of Dumfries and Galloway offer a great variety of routes and terrain. Some of the coastal routes offer outstanding scenery and coffee shops a plenty. The fact the the Tour Of Britain keeps coming back is a testament to the quality of riding available.
In the cottage we have loads of info about the area including guides to the 7 Stanes, trail maps and a full size OS map mounted on the wall so you can plan to your hearts delight.
Out the back we have a stone shed for bike storage that has anchors and a padlock for the door. There is also a bucket and brushes to get your bikes clean and the utility room is ideal for getting wet and muddy kit off and washed before settling down in front of the TV to watch the Seasons DVD.
